Gan Shaoning, deputy commissioner of the CNIPA, made the comment at the International Symposium on IP Awareness for Belt & Road Countries in Zhuhai on November 5 and 6.
Gan said the Chinese government attaches great importance to improving IP awareness and protection and has made great headway in those regards. He foresees increased economic prosperity through enhanced exchanges and cooperation between B&R countries.
Other attendees included Phork Sovanrith, secretary of state of the Cambodian Ministry of Industry & Handicrafts; Vladimir Marić, director of the Serbian Intellectual Property Office; and Josip Merdzo, director of the Institute for IP of Bosnia-Herzegovina. WIPO delegates and other officials from Russia, Poland, Hungary, and Singapore also took part.
In addition to the CNIPA, they were joined by Chinese representatives from the National Copyright Administration, and Guangdong Province.
The event was handled by the Department of Market Regulation (IP) of Guangdong Province and Zhuhai Municipal People's Government under the auspices of the WIPO and CNIPA.
