Apple's Snow Leopard to be on sale Friday

2009/08/26

BEIJING, Aug. 25  -- Apple will ship its newest operating system, Mac OS X Snow Leopard, this Friday.

Apple made this announcement on Monday morning, and is already taking pre-orders for the operation system on its website.

Mac OS X Snow Leopard, or Mac OS X 10.6, is not as much about adding new features as it was about improving performance, as it was called "refined, not reinvented", according to Apple.

Apple said that Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard is half the size of the previous operating system with faster startup and shutdown times, a smaller disk footprint and a more crash-resistant Web browser.

Mac OS X Leopard users will spend 29 dollars to upgrade its previous version to Snow Leopard. For Mac OS X Tiger users, the Mac Box Set, which includes Mac OS X Snow Leopard, iLife '09 and iWork '09, will cost 169 dollars.
