China launches first countrywide trademark design competition

On August 20, "Wahaha" Cup 2009 China Trademark Design Competition was launched in Beijing. It is learnt that, this is the first countrywide trademark design competition in China.
The Deputy Director of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, Fu Shuangjian expressed that, this competition is one of the important measures taking by State Administration for Industry and Commerce for implementing national IP strategy and promoting the construction of innovation-oriented country in trademark field. He indicated that, according to the "Outline of the National Intellectual Property Strategy" released in 2008, holding the competition to enhance trademark design level and strive to enrich trademark meanings is just an embodiment of implementing "Outline" and advocating IP innovation.
The Chairman of China Trademark Association Li Jianzhong introduced that, the competition aims at making more people realize the importance of trademark, and enhancing the autonomy of legal use, protection and operation of trademark, and thus to provide supports for enterprises to constitute and implement trademark strategy, protect independent IPRs, standardize operation behavior and participate in fair competition.
The competition invited the experts of art universities and colleges, the elites in deign field and the law experts in trademark field and so on, it will construct strategic cooperation with some portal websites as well to issue the special of the competition and put up online voting in the whole society.
